& the Ultrasonics

Nothing But The Blues
Big Dave and the Ultrasonics have been
called a "table-bouncing hybrid of boogie woogie, jump blues and
roots-rockin' R & B" by Real Blues Magazine, and for good reason.
This five piece band from Ann Arbor,
Michigan, began in 1990. Their sound is a unique mixture of 40's jump blues,
New Orleans rumba, B-3 shuffle and low down Texas blues.
Schoolkid's
Records released the band's first CD, "Love and Money" in 1993. It
received many accolades from blues magazines including Blues Access, who
stated the CD was an "outstanding first effort." The CD charted on
numerous radio stations in early 1994, topping acts like Charles Brown and
Luther Allison. The band toured extensively to support the release, gaining
regional recognition and opening for such blues icons as Albert King, Koko
Taylor, John Mayall and Buddy Guy.
In May 1996 Schoolkid's released the band's
second CD "No Sweat" which was recorded live in January of that same
year. The disc offers a real taste of Big Dave and the Ultrasonics in action:
Steele's soulful smoky vocals, outstanding solos from all three frontmen,
constant drive and swing from the rhythm section, and audiences screaming for
more. The band played over 200 dates, gamering national recognition and
furthering their regional base.
The
band's third CD, "Big Dave and the Ultrasonics", debuting on
Burnside Records, showcases the band's upbeat grooves, their skilled
musicianship and well crafted songs.
