The Duffy Bishop Band is without a doubt a blues treasure. With scores of awards and four of the finest CDs ever to come out of the great Northwest, Duffy Bishop and her guitarist/songwriter husband, Chris Carlson, have become one of the most popular acts at festivals and nightclubs around the nation. There are countless reasons for their success, but The Oregonian's John Foyston summed it up nicely, "Some blueswomen never get past big, bold and brassy, but Bishop knows well the uses of subtlety in songs. [her] sly knowing humor is one of Bishop's many charms". More than just a powerhouse blues vocalist, Duffy Bishop is an artist and an actor. Each CD is a continuation of her independent musical stylings. They currently have four CDs out on the Burnside Records label "Fly The Rocket", "The Queens Own Bootleg Live (re-released)", "Back to the Bone" and "Bottled Oddities" and it looks like they are getting ready to record a new one in late winter of 2002.

What might you expect to hear from The Duffy Bishop Band? They play blues, but they're not a blues band. They swing but they're not a jazz band. They rock, but... you get the idea. Maybe the blanket term that best describes them is Rhythm and Blues. They write and compose most of the songs that they perform and the ones they didn't write are generally obscure and over 40 years old (kinda like them). This eclectic mix of music is held together by Duffy's unique and powerful voice. Her performance style is entertaining and fun, yet somehow mystical and healing. She's a shaman of sorts, creating a temporary tribe among the listeners.
